Kids in Connecticut Deserve Better

by Allyson P. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012

The Connecticut legislature recently passed a bill calling for schools to give elementary school kids at least 20 minutes of physical activity a day. This is a start, but our children should be getting at least 150 minutes of Physical Education a week.

Childhood obesity is a crisis in our state and getting kids to understand the importance of physical activity at a young age will develop lifelong habits of good health.

Check out the recently released   “The 2012 Shape of the Nation Report: Status of Physical Education in the USA” , sponsored by National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and the American Heart Association, which found most states failing to require a specific amount of instructional time.
