Why You’re the Cure? Because it’s simple and convenient!

by Krystle R. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Especially with the holiday season upon us, life can definitely feel like its pulling you in various directions and keeping you at a rigorous pace. Sometimes when you finally get home from work or the gym, you kind of want to stay there – if you’re anything like me – and enjoy a good book, watch the latest episode of Modern Family or maybe catch-up with friends and family online.

But I also have been looking for a way to connect and contribute within my community. So when I became a part of You’re the Cure, I was pleasantly surprised that I could make a difference in my community by mailing a letter, simply making a phone call or sometimes just clicking a button. You’re the Cure enables me to fight for necessary change in my community that will improve the health of all Americans right from my home!

Here are the major issues that You’re the Cure advocates are working to help change in Georgia this year.

  • Ensure that all students learn CPR before they graduate from high school so that maybe more than just 11% of people who suffer from sudden cardiac arrest will survive because someone was able to render CPR in time to save them.
  • Make it easier for school and parks to open their facilities to the community after hours to help curb childhood obesity.
  • Help smoke-free air become a possibility for everyone in public places, even restaurants, bars and workplaces.

I’m grateful that I can affect change in a way that fits my needs and my schedule. Do you find You’re the Cure to be a simple way to make positive changes in your community as well? I’d love to hear from you. Just leave me a comment below.
