Beth O'Neal Georgia
I’m a wife and mom of three boys with a degree in nutrition, so what kids eat and its effect on their health has always been important to me. The work that the American Heart Association is doing to help PREVENT cardiovascular disease by helping kids and their families make healthier choices today is something that I love being a part of. Two years ago, I discovered a new passion for advocacy work after attending a lobby day and press conference at the Georgia capitol. Being up close and personal in the legislative process was fun and very eye opening. I’ve now expanded my work in this area by serving as the 2012-13 chair for Georgia’s State Advocacy Committee for the American Heart Association. It is gratifying to do something as simple as make a phone call or take a legislator to coffee and discuss these issues, knowing those small actions have a big impact!
