Check out this great story about police officers who helped save the life of a student who experienced sudden cardiac arrest. This story has got it all: helpful bystanders, people dialed 911, CPR was administered, a defibrillator was used, and the victim was transported to the hospital.
Remember, the 5 links in the adult Chain of Survival are:
• Immediate recognition of cardiac arrest and activation of the emergency response system
• Early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with an emphasis on chest compressions
• Rapid defibrillation
• Effective advanced life support
• Integrated post-cardiac arrest care
