Share Your Story: Paula Baker

by Grace H. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013

Paula Baker, Montana

For nearly nine years AHA staffer Paula Baker has traveled across Montana bringing AHA’s Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Hearts curriculum and fundraising program to elementary and middle schools. She is a familiar face to PE teachers, principals and students alike. While it would be easy for anyone to stay focused just on the scope of their professional responsibility, Paula has aligned her passion for heart health and healthy living with AHA’s legislative efforts in Helena.

Each year Paula and Government Relations Director Cliff Christian partner to raise awareness of women’s heart health on National Wear Red Day. This year Paula, Cliff and AHA volunteers brought hands-only CPR demonstrations and heart health education materials to the Capitol so legislators, staffers and visitors could learn how to save a life.

Not only does Paula bring AHA’s mission to legislators inside the Capitol, but when she’s traveling across the state she regularly responds to urgent email action alerts keeping up the conversation with her lawmakers electronically.

Linking her professional work and personal passion, Paula’s commitment to building healthier communities in Montana is clear.

What might you do to further your passion for You’re the Cure and health policy in Montana?
