Share Your Story: Sharon L.

by Grace H. on Friday, September 14, 2012

Sharon, Washington

I'm a stroke survivor who had brain surgery 16 years ago. After vomiting and complaining about a severe headache and talking in gibberish (three signs of stroke), my husband took me to a doctor to see what was wrong with me. At that time, neither of us knew the signs of stroke. We do now. I had a hemorrhagic stroke and survived to share my story. Educating people about heart disease and stroke is a lifelong process, and I want to help my community know the signs and symptoms so that everyone can live their lives to their highest potential. Being aware and understanding can give the next generation some good tools to continue fighting. Nothing moves forward without a healthy body and a strong mind.
