May is American Stroke Month- a time to raise awareness about our nation's No. 4 killer and a leading cause of disability- and we need your help to get the word out!
Commit to some of the following activities throughout the month:
1. Learn F.A.S.T. to be able to spot stroke warning signs and symptoms- and tell 5 friends so they can be ready to act too!
Face Drooping- Does one side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile.Arm Weakness- Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?Speech Difficulty- Is speech slurred, are they unable to speak, or are they hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, like "the sky is blue." Is the sentence repeated correctly?Time to call 911- If the person shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call 9-1-1 and get them to the hospital immediately.2. Download the F.A.S.T. mobile app for your iPhone TODAY!
3. Add the F.A.S.T. badge to your profile picture on Facebook or Twitter to show your support. 4. Watch the American Stroke Association's new video PSA and share it!
5. Be inspired by some of the amazing survivor-advocates making their voices heard across the country to improve stroke prevention, diagnosis, and treatment- and share your story too!
