  American Stroke Month

  Friday, 1:00 AM – 11:59 PM

  May is American Stroke Month- a time to raise awareness about our nation's No. 4 killer and a leading cause of disability- and we need your help to get the word out! 

  Commit to some of the following activities throughout the month:

  1. Learn F.A.S.T. to be able to spot stroke warning signs and symptoms- and tell 5 friends so they can be ready to act too! 

  F.A.S.T. is:

  Face Drooping- Does one side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile.
  
  Arm Weakness- Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
  
  Speech Difficulty- Is speech slurred, are they unable to speak, or are they hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, like "the sky is blue." Is the sentence repeated correctly?
  
  Time to call 911- If the person shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call 9-1-1 and get them to the hospital immediately.

  4. Watch the American Stroke Association's new video PSA and share it!

  5. Be inspired by some of the amazing survivor-advocates making their voices heard across the country to improve stroke prevention, diagnosis, and treatment- and share your story too!
