Next week nearly 300 of your fellow You’re The Cure advocates from 43 states will gather in Washington, D.C. to advocate on behalf of the American Heart Association. Advocates will meet with congressional representatives and their staffs and urge them to restore the NIH funding cut by the recent sequester and allocate $32 billion for the agency in 2014.  Advocates will also be asking their lawmakers to provide $35 million to the Million Hearts initiative to support a national campaign to reduce high blood pressure. In addition, many advocates will be participating in the “Rally for Medical Research,” on April 8 in Washington with 150 other organizations.

It is because of advocates like yourself that we are able to have these successful events on the state and federal level. Even if you are not attending this year’s event in Washington, D.C., you can still support those that are attending and their efforts. Please take the time to visit our action center and send your legislator an email letting them know that these issues are important to you too.
