On Thursday, July 25 the Voices for Georgia’s Children and Georgia Children’s Advocacy Network (GA-CAN!) hosted a great panel discussion in Atlanta titled “Reducing Childhood Obesity: We All Play a Role.”

Members of the advocacy community were invited to attend and hear from the below panelists, as well as network and ask questions:

  • Bobby Cagle, Commissioner, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning
  • Trisha Hardy, Director, Child Wellness, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
  • Kelly Mattran, Physical Activity Coordinator, Georgia Department of Public Health
  • Deborah Murray, Associate Dean for Extension & Outreach, College of Family & Consumer Sciences, University of Georgia
  • Gaye Smith, Executive Director, Georgia Family Connection Partnership
  • Lori George Billingsley, Vice President of Community Relations, Coca-Cola North America Group

With Georgia having the second highest obesity rate in the nation, it's important advocates work together to help our children lead healthier, longer lives. Stay tuned for more ways the American Heart Association will partner with Voices for Georgia’s Children and GA-CAN!.
