Jim McCord was recently named Government Relations Director for South Dakota.  Jim comes to the AHA with a strong background in health policy and education.  Prior to joining the AHA, Jim worked for the South Dakota Department of Health. In his role as Tobacco Program Director Jim oversaw many policy/systems/environmental change initiatives such as implementation of tobacco free campus policies in K-12 schools, post-secondary schools and the expansion of the clean indoor air law in South Dakota. With 26 years of experience in health promotion, Jim understands the importance of working with state government on opportunities to improve the health of our state.

 Jim will direct the AHA’s government relations strategy in South Dakota to help reduce the impact of heart disease and stroke on South Dakotans.  Welcome Jim!
