RI House Approves "CPR in Schools" Bill by Unanimous Vote

by Megan T. on Thursday, June 6, 2013

As we recognize National CPR & AED Awareness Week (June 1-7), we have more good news to share!  On May 29 the RI House of Representatives unanimously passed our “CPR in Schools” bill.  Prior to the vote, Rep. Joe McNamara, chairman of the Health, Education and Welfare Committee, provided a hands-only CPR demonstration on the House floor to show lawmakers how quick and easy it is to learn this lifesaving skill.

We have just one step to go with the legislature before this bill heads to Governor Chafee’s desk.  Let’s keep the pressure on!

Please click the following link to thank your representative for voting YES on the "CPR in Schools" bill - and urge the House and Senate Leadership to get this lifesaving measure to the Governor's desk!

As you know, this bill would require all high school students to receive hands-on CPR training and an overview of automated external defibrillator (AED) use prior to graduation as part of the health education curriculum.
