Senator Mullis Wants Georgia to Be CPR Smart!

by Krystle N. on Thursday, October 18, 2012

The American Heart Association thanks Senator Jeff Mullis of Chickamauga, GA for formally agreeing to sponsor our CPR in Schools legislation on October 4th! This new initiative will help high schools train the next generation of lifesavers. Because cardiac arrest can strike any of us at any time, it’s important people aren’t afraid to act. Last year our neighbors to the north – Tennessee and North Carolina – BOTH passed this law, so Georgia needs to join them!

This fall at Heart Walks across the state, we are speaking with hundreds of walkers about this issue. In fact at the Atlanta Walk alone, more than 300 walkers signed postcards to send to Georgia lawmakers expressing support for training high school students in CPR. It’s these kind of collaborative efforts that will move this issue ahead. Look for a chance to say ‘thank you’ to Senator Mullis via our Thanksgiving alerts.

As always, a special thanks to all our volunteers for your tireless support of our advocacy priorities!
