Dear You’re the Cure Advocacy Members,

It is with mixed emotions that I write to let you know I have accepted a new position within the American Heart Association as the Western Region Campaign Manager with Voices for Healthy Kids (VFHK), a recently formed Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/AHA initiative focused on reversing the childhood obesity epidemic.

While I am excited to continue to work with the AHA and our outstanding partners on tackling one of the most challenging issues of our generation I will truly miss the great work we have been doing together in Oregon. This past year was especially rewarding as we saw the passage of pulse oximetry screenings for every newborn in Oregon, established a stroke committee and data collections system, and dedicated $4 million to tobacco prevention and $4 million to physical education grants. What a year!

In my new role, I will work with the 16 US Western States on their policies and campaigns focused on childhood obesity. VFHK policy priority areas include reducing consumption of sugary drinks, increasing access to affordable foods, and increasing physical activity levels for children and youth as well as many others.

I feel privileged to be joining a stellar team of staff, volunteers, and partner organizations across the country working to build a healthier future and urge you to stay involved. Watch for VFHK updates on and add your voice to the movement to build a healthy future.

Please feel free to reach out to me at any time – I will be keeping my current email and cell phone contacts (below). Thanks for your partnership these past three years; keep in touch!

All the best,

(c) 503-828-8448
