Share Your Story: Tanya & Ken Mathys

by Grace H. on Thursday, October 25, 2012

Tanya and Ken Mathys, Utah

Tanya has always been prepared to save someone’s life with CPR. She just never thought it would be her husband’s. When Ken went into cardiac arrest after their son’s soccer game, she pulled him from the car and kept his heart pumping with basic CPR for 15 minutes until first responders arrived. Today Tanya and Ken are ardent advocates for the importance of CPR and Basic Life Support (BSL) CPR instruction. They shared their story at Heart on the Hill Lobby Day on February 3rd. They helped motivate the 60 volunteers in attendance to become certified in CPR and to ask the Utah Legislature for funding for hands-only CPR instruction in high schools.
