In February 2012, Kyler Nixon’s active life of sports was quickly put to a halt after an MRI showed abnormal thickness in the left ventricle of his heart. Kyler was tested for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). HCM is genetic so there are currently no medications or surgeries that can be done. If the genetic tests had come back positive then Kyler would not be allowed to return to sports. We are happy to learn that Kyler is doing well. He played basketball and baseball this past school year and is gearing up to play basketball again this winter. His next appointment with his cardiologist will be in February to make sure everything is stable. He currently has no restrictions!
