On March 21st 50 You’re the Cure advocates from across Nevada came together at the legislature to encourage their Senators and Assembly members to support newborn heart defect screening, CPR in schools, heart attack center identification and calorie information in Nevada restaurants. We had such a terrific, engaged and knowledgeable group, and were able to provide legislators with the information that they need to hopefully support these important bills. The next few weeks will be critical as there are a couple of important deadlines coming up for passing bills out of the first committee and the first house. Since our day at the legislature though, we have seen the newborn heart defect screening bill (SB92) and the heart attack center bill (SB167) both pass out of the Senate Health Committee. Thanks to the members of this committee, and the Chairman, Senator Jones, for their support! Both will be headed to the full Senate for a floor vote, and if passed, on to the Assembly!
