It’s been a pleasure these last three years to be your link to the American Heart Association’s advocacy work. I’ve enjoyed getting to know each of you, the wonderful advocates in the You’re the Cure network, and provide opportunities for you to directly influence policy in your community. We’ve had some exciting wins – newborn screenings for critical congenital heart defects in Alaska and Oregon, CPR training in schools in Washington, smoke-free air in Idaho and tobacco prevention funding in Montana. I’m excited to now tackle a new challenge as the Government Relations Director for Washington. My friend and colleague Lucy Asdourian left big shoes to fill, but I’m excited to dive in to legislative issues here in my home state.
Though I’m moving on, I am leaving you in the capable hands of my friend and long-time advocacy team member, Grace Henscheid. Grace has been with the advocacy team for more than five years, supporting policy work across our western states. She has a firm grasp of the organization’s policy priorities and will be an asset to each one of you as you continue to build relationships with your legislators and impact policy.
Thank you for all that you do on behalf of the heart and stroke community. Grace and I look forward to working with you and continuing the important work ahead of us.
Excited for all 3 of you in your new roles!
