On February 20, 2025, the American Heart Association hosted Nevada Lobby Day at the Legislative Building in Carson City. The event brought together eighteen passionate advocates including Dr. Alfred Danielian, team cardiologist for the Vegas Golden Knights, Las Vegas Raiders, Las Vegas Aces, and UNLV Athletics. Pageant winners from across Nevada, including Miss Nevada, Miss Teen Nevada, Miss Diamond Valley, and Miss Silver State also joined.

Advocates met with 14 with legislators and their staff to discuss protecting the Clean Indoor Air Act, Free School Meals for all k-12 students and for Cardiac Emergency Response Plans in schools (CERPs).

The day was filled with inspiring stories and impactful moments. Dr. Alfred Danielian highlighted the importance of Cardiac Emergency Response Plans (CERP) answering questions and participating in legislative meetings to support CERP legislation. During the volunteer breakout sessions, advocates shared their personal connections to the issues. Some openly spoke about benefiting from free school meals as children, which fueled their passion to advocate for the next generation.

Overall, Nevada American Heart Association Lobby Day 2025 was a resounding success. With the Nevada legislature only convening every two years this was an important opportunity for volunteers to unite and speak out on policies that improve lives and create healthier communities.
