Getting ready for the Wisconsin 2025 – 2026 Legislative Session

Now that the elections are over, we are turning our attention to the Wisconsin 2025 – 2026 Legislative Session. We will be working with lawmakers to build a healthier Wisconsin and wanted to highlight the policies where we will need your voice and help to be successful.

  • Cardiac Emergency Response Plans in Schools
Annually, more than 300,000 people, in the United States, experience out of the hospital cardiac arrest. Our schools are the center of our communities, and we are working to make sure they have plans in place in the event of a cardiac emergency. This includes ensuring AEDs are accessible, staff are taught what to do, and drills are performed just like fire and tornado drills. With hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, staff, and visitors in schools and their facilities every day, it is important to have a plan in place to address cardiac arrest.
  • Extending Medicaid Postpartum Coverage
We continue to work to extend postpartum Medicaid coverage from 2 months to a full year after delivery. Wisconsin is leaving moms behind. Every other state but Arkansas has extended coverage. Mothers deserve quality healthcare, before, during, and after their pregnancy. There are many life dangerous pregnancy-related complications – preeclampsia, blood clots, and heart problems, such as cardiomyopathy – that may not surface until weeks or months after delivery.
