Utah Heart on the Hill Day 2025
On February 11th, 2025, the American Heart Association hosted the annual Utah Heart on the Hill Day at the Capitol Building, bringing together thirty-five passionate advocates to talk with legislators. The primary focus of the day was to advocate for legislation aimed at addressing childhood hunger.
Advocates held twenty-five meetings with legislators and staff. Many legislators responded positively, expressing support and committing to further discussions. Representative Clancy, the bill sponsor, came and spoke with advocates about why he is sponsoring the bill and to encourage volunteers. He spoke to them about the power of their voice as constituents and thanked them for coming to make their voices heard on the issue.
The event went well, and while we don’t yet know if the bill will pass it is alive and moving through the legislative process as of right now.
The day was filled with inspiring stories and impactful moments. One advocate, Advocate Adriele Fugal, led the issue training, sharing not only her work with Noah, the Utah Government Relations Director, on the issue of childhood hunger but also her own personal experience with the issue. She inspired advocates and helped motivate them to go out and lobby for HB 100 on behalf of Utah children.
Overall, Utah Heart on the Hill Day 2025 was a resounding success. The day brought together people with a shared passion and allowed them to make their voices heard with legislators.
